Dr. Michelle Teo is grateful to be the mother of three children and to be married to her best friend, Winston. She has studied and trained at McGill University, University of Calgary and University of Alberta before working as a community rheumatologist in Penticton, British Columbia in 2013.
Dr. Teo is exploring an approach to healthcare focused on patient centric care that decreases burn out of healthcare workers. She and her team have worked together over 10 years to understand the potential of team-based care. They now provide mentorship for this approach to improve the lives of both patients and healthcare workers. They believe the future of universal healthcare involves empowering and supporting physician led teams to deliver high quality care.
They want to bring together the collective wisdom of frontline healthcare workers to create solutions that meet the needs of individual patients, patient groups, and communities, transforming the health of our society.
Erin Mealing, RN, BsCN
Erin is originally from Newfoundland but relocated to northern Alberta where she received a Bachelor of Science in nursing through the University of Alberta. During her 10-year nursing career, she has worked in many outpatient clinics in Fort McMurray for family practice with a specialty in women’s health, and prenatal and postnatal care.
Shortly after relocating to the Okanagan in British Columbia, she was delighted to join Dr. Teo’s team, as they share a passion for increasing patient accessibility, decreasing wait times, and improving patient satisfaction.
As a member of Dr. Teo’s team, Erin has been able to use her decade-long outpatient nursing experience to provide mentorship for nurses and allied health professionals within the Team Empowered Outcomes program. Erin is happily married to her husband Garrett and is the proud mother of two boys.
Linda Sakal
Linda is the Executive Assistant and Medical Office Team Assistant to Dr. Michelle Teo. Her passion and pride for helping people as a medical office assistant in various specialties and family practices have given her the foundation to work in this team-based care model.
Team Empowered Outcomes (TEO) support teammates and enable them to perform in their area of expertise, filling roles that are aligned and in tune with each other. She is dedicated to mentoring teams on how to achieve their shared goal of delivering quality patient care.
Outside of work, Linda enjoys connecting with family & friends and finds inspiration in music and nature.
